Developing a Morning Routine
The dreaded sound of the alarm clock, the continues snooze hits, the need for one more minute in bed I know you know what I am talking about! Mornings! Yes, they are rough and not many of us like early mornings the worst part is most of us don’t have a productive morning routine. Morning routines are the best way to jump-start our day and make it as productive as possible. Several experts have stated that creating a morning routine will not only build a stress-free life, but it will also yield more productivity into our life, how we start our day affects everything we do. Most successful people have a morning routine in place.
THE VALUE OF A MORNING ROUTINE
Before we get started on the morning routine list, let’s talk about the benefits of having one. In today fast paced world we seem always to be lacking time and time is the most valuable asset we have; a morning routine can help us be more productive by adding more hours to our day. Morning routines help to create self-discipline, mental toughness, create a stress-free living and avoid mental fatigue. Having a morning routine doesn’t mean that we have to wake up as early as 5 am, we need to organize our mornings since it is an essential part of our day. The best part of having a morning routine is that it doesn’t require an excessive amount of work just a few subtle changes to our habits. I will be sharing with you some essential yet natural morning routines to increase your productivity and leave you feeling great!
THE MORNING ROUTINE
Pre-Plan your morning and get started the night before this is essential to jump-start your day. Before going to bed make a game plan for your next day prioritize from the most important to least important and put aside your outfit for the next day. Now let’s take a look at how to start your morning.
- DRINK A GLASS OF COLD WATER
The first thing you should do is drink water. Water is essential for us, after going without water for 6-8 hours our body dehydrates, a cold cup of water is a great way to wake up your metabolism.
- TAKE A COLD SHOWER
Yes! A cold shower because we have to step out of that comfort zone, I know this doesn’t sound great trust me it will leave you feeling wide awake and refreshed to take on anything.
- MEDITATE 5 MINUTES
- Get comfortable
- Breath through your nose hold and release
- Concentrate on your breathing feel your lungs expand
- Silence your mind and be still
You don’t need a full work out! Stretch a little move around do what works for you.
- JOURNAL TIME
We get so caught up in our daily schedule we forget to appreciate what we have in our life, take five minutes out of your morning to make a list what you are grateful for, what you appreciate in your life and what you must get done today. Doing this will not only leave you feeling great, but it will open up endless opportunities to have the most productive day.
- HAVE A HEALTHY BREAKFAST
How many times have you skipped breakfast because your rushing to leave your house? It’s vital to have a healthy breakfast, don’t over complicate it keep it simple and nutritious.
WHAT NOT TO INCLUDE IN YOUR MORNING ROUTINE
- Don’t leave your alarm clock next to your bed, instead set it away from your bed. Now you have no alternative but to step out of bed.
- Don’t set multiple alarm clocks. Set one this way you know that you have no more wake-up calls.
- Don’t check social media, and e-mails trust me it can wait.
- Don’t turn on the TV try to stay disconnected from the outside world for a while and enjoy your morning to yourself

Remember that everyone is different you can always alter your morning routine by customizing it to your needs. This is a trial and error process, keep in mind mastering a morning routine will not be an overnight success it will take some practice and effort.
